Like a watercolor

We are currently preparing illustrations for a new puzzle. We are aiming for a style similar to the watercolor illustrations in picture books.

We always use Affinity Designer to create illustrations, and we especially like to use vector mode. For this illustration, it would be better to draw it in pixel mode, but since we will be making many edits to the color and position, vector mode is more convenient.

So we tried to make the sketch above look like a pixelated image by using gradients and FX in vector mode. It still doesn’t have the pale feel of a watercolor painting.

It would be nice if Affinity Designer’s lines and fills had “rough line width” and “random fill” options.
